About this role

Friendship Hospital for Animals seeks a Facilities Coordinator to manage all building operations at their Washington D.C. veterinary hospital. You'll handle routine safety inspections, coordinate with contractors and cleaning services, oversee maintenance planning and records, and ensure the facility meets health and safety codes. The role includes on-call responsibility for emergency maintenance issues and requires hands-on involvement in equipment repairs, installations, and refurbishments across a complex medical facility.

This position demands practical expertise in mechanical and plumbing systems, HVAC, and general building maintenance, along with the physical capability to lift heavy objects and perform labor-intensive tasks. You'll need strong organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities, vendor relationships, and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. While prior veterinary facility experience is preferred, what matters most is your ability to keep a sophisticated medical building—equipped with MRI, CT, ICU, and specialized departments—running safely and reliably.

The role offers competitive compensation between $28–$33 per hour, full-time in-office work, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA, generous paid time off, and pet care discounts. You'll work within a collaborative team at an AAHA-accredited hospital known for advanced care and a supportive culture. Comfort working around animals in a medical setting is essential.
