About this role

Friendship Hospital for Animals is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations and safety of their Washington D.C. veterinary facility. You'll oversee building systems, conduct routine safety inspections, coordinate maintenance and repairs, manage relationships with contractors and vendors, and ensure the hospital meets all health and code requirements. The role includes on-call responsibility for emergency maintenance issues like HVAC failures, plus hands-on work supporting installation and refurbishment projects.

This position suits someone with solid mechanical knowledge—particularly HVAC, plumbing, and building systems—who can handle both administrative tasks like record-keeping and planning alongside physical labor. You'll need strong time management to juggle multiple priorities, problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues, and the ability to work effectively with both internal management and external repair representatives. Comfort around animals in a medical environment is essential; prior veterinary facility experience is preferred but not required.

The role offers competitive pay ($28–33K annually), comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA, and generous paid time off, plus pet care discounts. You'd be joining a top-tier AAHA-accredited hospital known for its advanced specialties and collaborative culture.
