You'll contribute to the success of recruiting and employee programs by executing the day-to-day tasks with accuracy and consistency. This is a great fit for someone who is highly organized, reliable, and detail-focused, takes direction well, and wants to build a foundation across both the recruiting and HR sides of a People function.

About this role

BIG HAPPY is looking for a People Operations Coordinator to be the operational backbone of its growing HR and recruiting functions. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of People Operations, you'll split your time between recruitment support—screening applications, scheduling interviews, managing the applicant tracking system, and creating LinkedIn content—and the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding logistics and equipment setup through offboarding and org chart maintenance. You'll also handle compliance tracking, coordinate culture initiatives like recognition programs and company events, and manage the recurring administrative tasks that keep a People team running smoothly.

This role suits someone who is genuinely organized, detail-oriented, and energized by supporting people at different stages of their journey with the company. You'll need 1–2 years of HR, recruiting, or People Ops experience, comfort with tools like Monday.com and an applicant tracking system, and strong written communication skills. The work is hands-on and process-driven; you'll thrive if you take direction well, follow through consistently on recurring tasks, and have good judgment about when to escalate or ask questions.

BIG HAPPY offers a hybrid arrangement (three days in-office in Chicago) with a base salary of $55,000–$65,000 depending on experience, plus bonus potential, equity participation, healthcare, dental and vision coverage, unlimited PTO, and paid parental leave.
