BAYADA Habilitation is looking for a Habilitation Technician to work as a Companion/Buddy to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities develop and maintain as much independence as possible in the local community.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

Build long lasting relationships in a one-on-one setting a few hours a week.

Spend time on the client’s favorite hobbies and activities, like Special Olympics.

Support clients in developing their independence and achieving their goals (e.g., budgeting, socializing, shopping, using public transportation, exercise)

Be attentive to meet the individual’s needs with dignity and respect.

Ensure client safety and well-being in the home and community.

About this role
BAYADA Home Health Care is seeking a Habilitation Technician to work as a one-on-one companion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities on Kauai. Rather than juggling multiple clients in rapid succession, you'd build a sustained relationship with one person over a few hours each week, supporting them in activities they enjoy—whether that's Special Olympics, shopping, budgeting, using public transportation, or simply spending time together in the community. The role centers on helping clients develop independence and achieve their own goals while ensuring their safety and dignity.
You'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and must be at least 18, but no prior caregiving experience is required. What matters most is genuine patience, empathy, and a real commitment to helping people with disabilities thrive as valued community members. BAYADA provides paid training to get you started and matches you with clients based on your skills and availability.
The position offers $20 per hour with a $1,000 sign-on bonus, weekly pay, and genuine flexibility around your schedule. Part-time hours are available on weekdays and weekends across multiple Kauai locations. Beyond base pay, BAYADA includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription), PTO, a 401(k) with company match, employer-paid life insurance, and an employee assistance program.
