Description
The Role
We are seeking an exceptionally talented individual to join our global Front Office Support team in London, focused on providing Production Support to our Portfolio Managers and trading desks across Fundamental Equity, Delta One and Volatility. The Front Office Support team bridges the gap between technology and the investment teams. We translate what Portfolio Managers need on the desk into what our internal technology services and 3rd party trading vendors can deliver.
The team is the first point of contact for any Production related outage or daily query across these systems, and is relied on to resolve them rather than pass them on. The role also includes project management work such as onboarding new users and trading applications, and value-add items to improve and uplift the overall Front Office Production environment.
What You’ll Do
The Front Office Support Engineer will be based on the trading floor and provide technical services for our global Portfolio Managers, Traders and the wider investment team across our Fundamental Equity, Delta One and Volatility strategies. You will also be responsible for working alongside the COO to onboard new Portfolio Managers and their teams and work with Operations to resolve trade failures. A successful candidate will also help automate and optimize our processes using our suite of AI products where required.
What You’ll Bring
Who we are looking for:
- Presence. The candidate will be the visible face of Front Office Support in their region, in some cases the only person on the ground as part of a global team and will be expected to become known and trusted across the trading floor through close day-to-day contact with the investment teams.
- Energy and Initiative. The candidate will bring visible energy to the trading floor, is proactive and is able to move fast. Is drawn to the pace and noise of a busy trading floor.
- Drive and ownership. The candidate will be able to analyse problems and identify what needs to be done and be driven to progress it without direction, particularly on issues that fall between teams, regions or systems. Takes responsibility for problems through to resolution, closes the loop with the people affected and follows up without prompting
- Self Confidence. Sound judgement under pressure, the confidence to hold their own with senior traders, vendors and technology teams, and a clear sense of when to escalate and when to resolve matters themselves.
- Leadership and influence. The potential to become one of the recognized voices on the trading floor – the first point of call for the desk and trusted to represent Front Office Support in senior forums.
- Relationship management. The role requires the candidate to adopt a client management approach to support, building an understanding of how each PM trades, what they depend on and what disruption actually costs them.
What you need:
- 2-5 years financial services experience – relevant experience and judgement matter more than the exact number of years
- Experience supporting trading desks and portfolio managers in a multi-strategy environment
- Experience across multiple asset classes – equities, ETFs, futures, swaps and listed options
- Experience supporting front office vendor order and execution management systems
- Proficient with use of AI as part of day-to-day workflow to help troubleshoot issues, plan projects
- Strong business analysis/project management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
We’d love it if you had:
- Exposure to APIs,
- AI agentic coding experience
- Knowledge of delta one and volatility trading applications
- Exposure to vendor trading systems – e.g. Neovest, TT, Portware, Bloomberg EMSX, Enfusion

About this role
Schonfeld's Front Office Support team sits at the heart of the trading floor, embedded with Portfolio Managers and Traders across EMEA to keep critical systems running and traders productive. As a Senior Front Office Support Engineer, you'd be the first responder for real-time issues across trading platforms—OMS, EMS, Bloomberg, and proprietary execution tools—diagnosing and resolving problems that directly impact P&L. Beyond firefighting, you'd identify repetitive pain points and drive automation improvements, working across a global team with counterparts in the US and APAC.
This role demands someone with at least four years supporting traders in a hedge fund, investment bank, or market-maker environment. You'll need hands-on experience with OMS/EMS/PMS stacks and vendor systems like Portware or Enfusion, solid technical grounding in SQL and FIX Protocol, and fluency in equities, futures, FX, or options trading workflows. Strong communication is essential—you're translating between traders and engineers constantly. Python scripting, AI tooling, and derivatives knowledge are valuable add-ons, but not required to start.
The appeal here is genuine front-row exposure to multi-asset trading and decision-making, immediate ownership of high-stakes problems, and the autonomy to build solutions rather than just patch issues. It's in-office in London, full-time, and suits someone who thrives under pressure, takes initiative, and wants to see their work move markets.
