About this role

Interstates is looking for an IT Support Intern to help keep their internal systems running smoothly across a distributed team. Working remotely from Sioux Falls, you'd handle the full spectrum of frontline tech support—fielding calls from office and remote users, installing and configuring software on Windows and Mac machines, setting up hardware like desktops and printers, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. You'd also take on asset management tasks like maintaining inventory documentation and researching approved equipment purchases.

Beyond standard IT work, this role includes meaningful exposure to data security and compliance. You'll participate in HIPAA training and support the company's privacy practices, giving you real experience with regulated environments that many entry-level positions don't offer. The internship also involves some hands-on learning—imaging devices, onboarding new users, and testing systems—so you'll build practical skills alongside your coursework.

You should be currently pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, or a related field, with at least a genuine interest in troubleshooting and learning. Prior IT coursework or internship experience is a plus but not required. The position pays $19–$21 per hour and is structured as a remote internship, which suits someone looking to gain real-world tech support experience while staying flexible with their studies.
