About this role

University of Michigan Hillel is seeking an early-career professional to support its fundraising operations as a Development Associate. You'll work across multiple initiatives—managing the annual phonathon program, coordinating senior class giving efforts, and overseeing student-led thankathon events—while building relationships with donors, alumni, and prospective supporters. The role balances hands-on execution (hiring and training student callers, maintaining donor records in Salesforce or similar platforms, drafting acknowledgment letters) with relationship management, requiring you to engage thoughtfully with graduating seniors, new alumni, and current donors to deepen their commitment to Michigan Hillel's multimillion-dollar annual campaign.

This position suits someone with 0–3 years of nonprofit or development experience who has strong written and oral communication skills and comfort working with donor databases. You'll report to the Director of Development and collaborate closely with the broader team on stewardship strategy, event support, and donor recognition. Familiarity with the Metro Detroit or Ann Arbor Jewish communities is a plus but not required. The role includes evening and weekend program attendance as needed, professional development opportunities including networking through HIGA, and a competitive nonprofit salary of $50,000–$58,000 with comprehensive benefits.
