About this role
Okta's Developer Support Engineer role puts you at the center of customer success for their Customer Identity SaaS platform, handling complex technical issues from initial intake through resolution. You'll own support tickets end-to-end, performing root-cause analysis and working across Engineering, Product, and Customer Success teams to resolve high-priority escalations. The position demands both technical depth and business acumen—you'll need to troubleshoot integration problems, identify patterns in recurring issues, and contribute to the internal knowledge base that helps the broader team operate more effectively.
This is a mid-level role suited for someone with at least three years in technical support, software engineering, or technical analyst positions who can operate independently with minimal supervision. You'll need solid grounding in software development fundamentals, REST APIs, web security, and identity and access management protocols like OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language—ideally JavaScript or Node.js—is required for debugging and code review work. Beyond technical skills, the role rewards strong communication abilities, customer advocacy, and the self-motivation to master complex SaaS and IAM architectures on your own.
The position is full-time and in-office in Bengaluru, requiring you to be present for collaboration with cross-functional teams and customer interactions. Okta emphasizes an immersive onboarding experience and positions this as career-defining work aligned with their broader mission around identity and security.
