Position Overview:
If you’re energized by building relationships, opening doors, and turning a cold prospect into a real business conversation, this could be a great opportunity for you.
As a Market Sales Development Representative (SDR), you’ll help drive growth for your local Verstela market by identifying prospective clients, starting conversations, and scheduling discovery meetings for our sales and branch leadership teams.
This is a highly active, outbound sales role. You’ll spend your time making calls, connecting with prospects through email and LinkedIn, visiting businesses in person, and finding creative ways to build relationships. Success in this role comes from consistency, curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to do what it takes to get the conversation started.
You will:
-
Prospect and identify new business opportunities within your assigned market.
-
Initiate conversations with business leaders to schedule appointments for our branch teams.
-
Visit prospective clients in person through regular market canvassing and drop-ins.
- Find creative ways to provide value and build relationships.
-
Meet daily and weekly targets in a rewarding environment.
What Success Looks Like
Your primary focus is creating qualified opportunities for the local sales team. Success will be measured by your ability to consistently meet weekly new client appointment goals, generate strong prospect engagement, and schedule meetings that turn into meaningful sales conversations.
You’ll also be expected to maintain consistent outbound activity and a strong discovery meeting show rate.
What We Offer:
- Growth Opportunities: Regular check-ins with your manager and a supportive team environment.
- Steady Schedule: Enjoy a stable Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm schedule.
- Team Spirit: Enjoy a supportive team atmosphere where individual and collective achievements are celebrated.

- Additional Perks: Paid time off, office snacks, birthdays off, and paid community service time
- Sales and/or Metrics Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a metrics driven role (retail, hospitality, SDR or outbound sales are all encouraged to apply)
- Go-Getter Attitude: Eager to build rapport with prospective clients, call and drop-in to achieve goals.
- Resilience: You know it takes some “no’s “ to get to a yes
- Tech Savviness: Proficient in MS Word, and Outlook, and quick to learn new software.
- Communication Pro: Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with decision-makers.
You’ll Thrive Here If You Are:
Competitive and goal-oriented, but also relationship-driven. You enjoy the challenge of getting someone’s attention, finding the right approach, and creating an opportunity where one didn’t exist before. You’re comfortable picking up the phone, walking into a business, trying something different when the first approach doesn’t work, and staying focused on the end goal.
Most importantly, you bring a “Whatever It Takes to Win” mindset and enjoy being part of a team that celebrates results.

About this role
Verstela is looking for someone to drive new business growth in their local Illinois market through consistent, hands-on prospecting. In this Market Sales Development Representative role, you'll own the outbound effort—making calls, sending emails, visiting businesses in person, and scheduling discovery meetings that feed the sales pipeline. Your success hinges on hitting weekly appointment targets and maintaining strong engagement with prospects, which means you need to be comfortable with rejection, persistent, and genuinely interested in building relationships rather than just checking boxes.
The ideal candidate has at least a year of experience in a metrics-driven environment like retail, hospitality, or sales, along with strong communication skills and the resilience to keep going after hearing "no." You'll work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm from one of three Illinois locations, with a base salary of $26–$28 per hour plus a monthly bonus that can reach $900–$1,500 when you exceed goals. Verstela backs this up with solid benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, 15 days of PTO in year one, and paid community service time.
This role suits someone competitive and goal-oriented who actually enjoys the challenge of getting a prospect's attention and creating opportunities from scratch. If you thrive on activity, variety, and the direct connection between your effort and results, and you're looking for a stable schedule with a team that celebrates wins, this could be a strong fit.
