About this role

Safety Worxs is filling a Project Safety Coordinator role for a four-month construction project in downtown Austin. You'll own all safety operations from start to finish, managing hazard identification, field inspections, incident investigations, and training delivery across critical areas like fall protection, excavation, confined space, and crane operations. The position requires you to review safety procedures for high-risk work, coordinate emergency response planning, maintain compliance documentation, and serve as the safety liaison between project leadership and subcontractors—essentially ensuring the entire project meets federal, state, and internal safety standards while building a positive safety culture on site.

This role demands substantial hands-on construction safety experience: at least seven years total, with five years managing safety processes on building construction projects, or a four-year safety degree plus three years of active field experience. You'll need current OSHA 500 or 502 certification (not OSHA 10/30), current First Aid/CPR/AED credentials, and documented training within the last five years in fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane operations, electrical safety, and incident investigation. A BCSP credential like CSP or CHST is preferred and can strengthen your candidacy.

The position offers full-time work with overtime available, $55/hour based on experience, and $125/day per diem for non-local candidates, with total compensation potential exceeding $200K. This is a fixed-term assignment, so it suits someone looking for a defined project engagement in Austin or willing to relocate temporarily.
