About this role
JRC's Missiles & Space Team is seeking a Support Equipment Engineer to lead the design, procurement, and delivery of support equipment and simulators for a strategic missile program. You'll manage complex technical coordination across multiple stakeholders—prime contractors, Navy facilities, and internal engineering teams—to ensure that missile handling, training, and integration equipment meets schedules and requirements. This role bridges system-level integration planning with hands-on field support, requiring you to develop requirements, oversee contractor execution, and troubleshoot issues at weapons facilities and test ranges.
The position demands seven years of defense systems engineering experience with at least two years in a technical leadership role on a major defense acquisition program. You'll need solid grounding in missile or ordnance handling equipment, weapon system simulators, and DoD acquisition policy, along with demonstrated success in missile systems design and integration. An active Top Secret clearance is required, and you should be comfortable engaging with senior DoD, FFRDC, and industry stakeholders. Expect roughly 50% travel to support technical reviews, integration events, and facility activations.
This is a contract role based in Washington, DC, working in-office. It suits an engineer ready to take ownership of critical program elements and mentor junior staff while navigating the demands of strategic weapons programs.
