About this role

TerraPower's IT Support Technician role at its Kemmerer construction site sits at the intersection of traditional desktop support and broader infrastructure responsibility. You'll support both office staff and construction personnel across a Microsoft-centric environment, handling everything from laptop setup and Office365 troubleshooting to specialized engineering software, networking appliances, and security systems. The work spans standard help desk tasks—ticket handling, Active Directory maintenance, PC lifecycle management—alongside more autonomous problem-solving as technical needs emerge on an active construction project.

What sets this role apart is the expectation for independent judgment and technical ownership. Rather than following established procedures, you'll often translate loosely defined technical requirements into practical solutions, make field-level decisions about interim infrastructure, and communicate clearly with central IT leadership about the trade-offs involved. You'll partner directly with on-site construction leadership to diagnose connectivity issues in non-standard network environments and help drive solutions toward standardization. This demands comfort working in a fast-paced, sometimes unpredictable setting with after-hours availability.

The position requires a minimum of two years of combined IT and customer service experience with a high school diploma, though four or more years with meaningful hands-on networking and systems administration experience is strongly preferred. You'll need to operate with elevated system access and sound judgment, translating complex technical constraints into clear guidance for non-technical staff. The hybrid arrangement is based on-site in Wyoming, with a salary range of $80,335 to $104,332.
