About this role
MEMX operates a financial exchange infrastructure, and this network engineer role supports the backbone systems that keep their low-latency trading platform running. You'd work the overnight shift (12 AM–9 AM ET, Monday–Friday) from an in-office location, handling design, implementation, and maintenance of the network environment that powers their operations. The work spans both proactive infrastructure work—configuring devices with Ansible and Python, analyzing new products, coordinating with data center and circuit providers—and reactive support, including incident response, root cause analysis, and customer connectivity troubleshooting.
The role demands deep expertise in low-latency, distributed network systems. You'll need at least five years of hands-on experience with layer 2 and 3 protocols (BGP, MLAG, IP multicast), familiarity with network operating systems like Arista EOS and Cisco IOS, and the ability to work with optical fiber and transceivers. Scripting in Python or Ansible, packet analysis with Wireshark or tcpdump, and firewall design experience are expected. This is a specialized position suited to engineers who've built or maintained high-performance trading or financial infrastructure networks.
Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $160,000. MEMX offers standard benefits including health coverage, 401(k), unlimited PTO, paid family leave, and professional development support. Note that the role requires in-office presence and the overnight shift schedule; applicants outside MEMX's current U.S. footprint can flag their location for consideration.
