About this role
Vailexa is looking for a senior technical leader to architect and support enterprise virtual desktop modernization at scale. You'd own the full lifecycle of Azure Virtual Desktop deployments—from design through production support—while leading the migration of legacy Citrix environments to cloud-based solutions. The role blends strategic architecture work with hands-on engineering: you'd establish enterprise standards and reference architectures, design disaster recovery and high-availability environments, and troubleshoot complex infrastructure and user experience issues across development through production tiers.
The position demands deep expertise across the Microsoft stack—Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Intune, Entra ID, and Azure infrastructure—plus proven experience with application packaging, endpoint management, and commercial trading applications. You'd also serve as L4 escalation support for business-critical, 24/7 environments, develop automation using PowerShell and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Bicep, and partner with operations teams on operational readiness and support procedures. This is a hands-on role that requires both the strategic thinking to lead enterprise modernization initiatives and the technical depth to solve complex deployment and support challenges.
The ideal candidate brings at least ten years in end user computing or virtual desktop infrastructure, seven-plus years designing enterprise virtual desktop environments, and five-plus years specifically with Azure Virtual Desktop. You'd need direct experience leading Citrix migration programs and building production and disaster recovery environments. This is an in-office position in Houston, suited for someone who wants ownership of critical infrastructure modernization and the technical credibility to influence enterprise architecture decisions.
