About this role

Barbaricum, a government contractor focused on Defense and National Security work, is hiring a Computer Systems Administrator I in Indianapolis to manage enterprise IT infrastructure supporting DoD mission and training environments. You'd be responsible for the full lifecycle of Windows and Linux systems—installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting—across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms. The role involves administering virtualization technologies like VMware, KVM, and Xen; managing user access and system security; monitoring infrastructure health; and coordinating with network, cybersecurity, and engineering teams on deployments, patches, and incident response.

This is a contract position requiring an active DoD Secret Clearance and a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. You'll need at least two years working with computer systems, demonstrated expertise in Windows enterprise and Linux administration, and hands-on experience with cloud and virtualization infrastructure. The role demands attention to DoD compliance standards and the ability to document configurations and procedures clearly. If you have the clearance already and solid experience across these infrastructure domains, this could be a direct fit for supporting mission-critical systems in a growing federal contracting environment.
