About this role
First Databank, a Hearst Health company, is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to work on real-world projects that directly impact healthcare delivery across hospitals, health plans, and pharmacies worldwide. You'll rotate through multiple assignments spanning web and mobile development, cloud infrastructure, databases, and data science—each exposing you to different technical domains and building a broad foundation in software engineering. The role is based in Carmel, Indiana and requires in-office presence.
To be considered, you must be a Computer Science or Software Engineering major who has completed junior year with a minimum 3.4 GPA. The internship is built around modern development practices, with AI-assisted coding tools (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, and similar) embedded into the engineering workflow. You're expected to actively use these tools as part of your development process, not as optional add-ons. Prior hands-on experience with AI coding assistants is preferred but not required.
The internship pays $20–$22 per hour. This role suits someone who wants practical exposure across multiple engineering specialties while working on software that has tangible healthcare applications, and who is comfortable—ideally eager—to work with AI development tools as a core part of the job.
