About this role

EquipmentShare is looking for a Fleet Monitoring Technician to join its Uptime Management Center at the Columbia, MO headquarters on a remote, volunteer basis. You'd be part of a 24/7 monitoring operation, watching over the company's heavy equipment rental fleet and customer-owned equipment. The work centers on tracking system alerts, triaging incidents, documenting issues, and escalating problems to senior technicians—essentially serving as a first line of response to keep equipment running and customers supported across chat, email, and phone channels.

This role suits someone with basic familiarity with heavy equipment or mechanical systems who's comfortable working rotating shifts in a fast-paced environment. You'd collaborate with internal teams like Services Technical Support and Service Managers to resolve issues, coordinate with branch personnel, and contribute to knowledge base documentation. The position offers a pathway toward a Fleet Monitoring Specialist role, so it's designed for someone ready to develop technical and operational expertise while handling multiple priorities simultaneously.

You'll need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, proficiency with G-Suite tools, and the ability to communicate clearly across teams and with customers. An associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience is preferred, along with 0–2 years in customer or technical support. Exposure to coding or database work is a bonus but not required. This is a volunteer position, so it's best suited for someone seeking meaningful work in a mission-driven environment rather than primary income.
