About this role
EquipmentShare is building a remote monitoring operation for its heavy equipment rental fleet, and this role sits at the center of that effort. As a Fleet Monitoring Technician, you'd work 24/7 shifts from the company's Columbia headquarters (remotely), watching system alerts, triaging incidents, and coordinating with technical teams and customers to keep equipment running. The work involves responding to alarms, documenting issues, communicating across chat and email, following up with branch staff and renters, and escalating problems appropriately—essentially serving as a first responder in the uptime management center.
The role suits someone with basic mechanical knowledge or genuine interest in learning it, strong organizational skills, and comfort working rotating shifts in a fast-paced environment. You'd need working knowledge of G-Suite, the ability to multitask under pressure, and a service-oriented mindset. While 0–2 years of customer support or technical support experience is preferred, the company values problem-solving drive and willingness to grow more than a specific background. Any exposure to heavy equipment or interest in technical systems is a bonus.
Note: This position is listed as volunteer work, which is unusual for a full-time monitoring role. Clarify the employment terms and compensation structure with EquipmentShare before applying, as the job description mentions benefits typically associated with paid employment.
