About this role
Ascension's Clinical Quality Registry Services department is seeking a Senior Oncology Data Specialist to work remotely identifying and abstracting cancer cases across their health system. The role centers on screening clinical documents—disease indices, pathology and radiology reports—to flag reportable cancer cases, then performing detailed data abstraction for oncology measures and registries while maintaining strict accuracy standards and regulatory compliance. You'll also manage long-term patient follow-up data collection and contribute to National Cancer Database special studies as assigned.
This position requires NCRA (National Cancer Registrars Association) oncology data specialist credentialing, obtained before your hire date. You'll need either a high school diploma plus two years of relevant experience, completion of an NCRA-accredited certificate program, an associate's or bachelor's degree, or four years of directly applicable job experience. A tumor registrar specialization is preferred. The role suits someone detail-oriented, comfortable with registry software and clinical documentation, and committed to the precision that oncology data work demands.
