Description

Specific Role:

We’re looking for a technically sharp, detail-oriented Applications Engineer to own EMIT Technologies’ panel and controls applications as an individual contributor. In this role, you’ll translate customer requirements into buildable panel configurations and the documentation that carries them to production, then see them through to a clean start-up in the field. You’ll work directly with customer engineers and collaborate closely with Solutions Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Sales to deliver panels that are correctly configured, well documented, and ready to build. After an initial ramp alongside our Controls Engineering Manager, you’ll also share weekend and off-hours customer call and activation coverage with our Technical Support team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work directly with customer engineers to determine panel functional requirements and design panel configurations to match
  • Participate in customer reviews of functional requirements for new panel applications, and verify requirements with the customer to secure approval before configuration work proceeds
  • Support Sales and Solutions Engineering in identifying which EMIT products and configurations fit a customer’s request, including whether it can be done and what parts are required
  • Help customers plan how panel functionality will apply to their project
  • Review IO sheets from Solutions Engineering for technical accuracy and completeness, and create IO sheets directly for requests that don’t come through Solutions Engineering
  • Create panel schematics and resulting bills of materials in SolidWorks (2D), and make electrical drawing changes as needed
  • Create configuration files, test files, and wire files, plus cause and effect diagrams and sequence-of-operations documentation as required
  • Partner with Mechanical Engineering to release completed panel documentation to production
  • Coordinate with Mechanical Engineering on drawing updates and with Software Engineering on new features needed to complete a panel application
  • Support engine control application scoping, identifying the kits and parts required for a given application
  • Assist customers at unit commissioning with control changes to meet site-specific requirements, including occasional on-site support
  • Set up hardware simulations to support field troubleshooting
  • Share weekend and off-hours activation and customer call coverage with the Technical Support team once initial ramp is complete

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, controls, mechanical, or a related engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Solid understanding of control systems and control theory
  • Working knowledge of gas compression principles, valves, and gas process flow
  • Experience with electrical drafting; SolidWorks experience preferred
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to retain and apply technical details
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and complete documentation
  • Clear communication skills and comfort working directly with customer engineers and cross-functional teams
  • Strong work ethic and a self-motivated, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to customer sites and participate in a weekend/off-hours coverage rotation
  • Primarily office-based role; site and manufacturing floor visits require standard PPE

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome candidates from all backgrounds.

Pay Range
$90,000—$115,000 USD

About this role

EMIT Technologies is seeking an Applications Engineer to own the full lifecycle of control panel projects—from translating customer requirements into detailed configurations through field commissioning. You'll work as an individual contributor directly with customer engineers while coordinating across Solutions Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Sales. The role centers on technical depth: creating schematics and bills of materials in SolidWorks, writing IO sheets and control documentation, developing cause-and-effect diagrams, and ensuring every panel ships production-ready. After an initial ramp period with the Controls Engineering Manager, you'll also share weekend and off-hours customer support coverage with the Technical Support team.

This position suits someone with a strong foundation in control systems and electrical engineering—whether through a bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience. You'll need solid working knowledge of gas compression, valves, and process flow, plus proficiency in electrical drafting and ideally SolidWorks. The role demands exceptional attention to detail, clear communication with technical stakeholders, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously. Occasional travel to customer sites and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation are expected.

The hybrid arrangement keeps you primarily office-based with periodic site visits and manufacturing floor time. Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $115,000 annually.
