Description

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Munich, enmacc is a high growth scale-up with a diverse team of over 100 professionals. We’re passionate about energy, technology, and building something that makes a real impact. If you are looking for an entrepreneurial environment where your work directly contributes to a more sustainable and digital energy future,  we invite you to submit your application below.

Your Mission

As an AI Systems & Automation Engineer in our Platform team, you are a software engineer first—and an AI power-user in everything you build. Your mission is to turn critical operational workflows into robust, containerized production web services powering our internal teams and external customer touchpoints (such as customer onboarding and KYC flows).

You will leverage LLMs both in how you build (accelerating delivery with agentic coding tools) and what you build (embedding LLM APIs, tool calling, and MCP integrations into production systems—paired with deterministic backend code where reliability matters most). You'll also champion our internal agentic engineering practices across the wider team.

(Note: This role focuses on production web services, systems integration, and agentic workflows. Core ML research and model training are owned by our Applied AI & Data team.)

Your Responsibilities

  • Professionalize Workflows into Production Web Services: Take manual, ad-hoc, or brittle processes (such as Google Forms, spreadsheet workflows, or fragile low-code scripts) and re-architect them into resilient, version-controlled web services with clean APIs, databases, robust authentication, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Build Customer-Facing & Platform Satellite Tools: Develop and run operational applications used directly by customers and internal operations—including customer onboarding portals, automated approval engines, document/KYC verification pipelines, and administrative services that support the core enmacc platforms.
  • Engineer AI-Powered & Agentic Systems: Design and implement LLM-powered services, multi-step agentic workflows, and custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that safely connect LLMs to our internal APIs, SaaS tools, and databases.
  • Lead by Example in Agentic Software Engineering: Heavily utilize AI coding agents to deliver full-stack and backend systems rapidly—while championing best practices, reusable skills/prompts, and agentic engineering workflows across the wider engineering team.
  • "You Build It, You Run It": Own the full lifecycle of your services from stakeholder problem discovery and architectural design to automated testing, containerized deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

Your Profile

  • Proven Software Engineering Track Record: You bring 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience building, testing, and operating production backend or full-stack web services (strong proficiency in Java, Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Go).
  • AI-Native Engineering Velocity: You use AI coding tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot) daily to write, refactor, and test code significantly faster—paired with strong engineering judgment to review, validate, secure, and stand behind every line you ship.
  • Production LLM & Agentic Integration Skills: You have hands-on experience integrating major LLM APIs (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini) into real software projects, using structured outputs, function/tool calling, RAG patterns, evaluation frameworks, and agent protocols (such as MCP).
  • Strong Systems & Architecture Fundamentals: You have a solid grasp of REST APIs, webhooks, relational databases (SQL/PostgreSQL), data modeling, event-driven architectures, Docker, Linux, and CI/CD pipelines on cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP).
  • Pragmatic Full-Stack Capability: While your core strength is building reliable backend systems and APIs, you can comfortably spin up clean, functional web interfaces or internal/customer portals (e.g., using React, Next.js, or modern UI frameworks) with the help of AI coding tools.
  • Engineering Rigor Over "Vibe-Coding": You know the difference between a quick hack and a maintainable service. You know when a problem calls for an LLM agent and when it calls for 50 lines of deterministic code.
  • High-Agency Problem Solver: You thrive on talking directly to engineers, operations teams, and customer-facing stakeholders, translating messy real-world bottlenecks into elegant software solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience building developer productivity tools, CLI utilities, Slack apps, or internal developer portals.
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration engines (e.g., Temporal, n8n in self-hosted/code-first setups) or event streaming (e.g., Kafka, message queues).
  • Prior exposure to B2B SaaS, FinTech, EnergyTech, or regulated customer onboarding/approval workflows.

Don't match every single requirement? We still want to hear from you!

Our offer

  • Competitive compensation package, including 28 days of annual leave.
  • Entrepreneurial, impact-driven culture with flat hierarchies and high autonomy.
  • Hybrid & Workation flexibility that balances office connection with the freedom to work from home or abroad.
  • €2,000 annual L&D budget plus 5 dedicated "Level Up" days to fuel your growth (for all full-time employees).
  • Commute & Wellness support, including fully covered gym memberships and paid transportation for office days.
  • Inclusive, international team that celebrates diversity and offers language classes to help you settle in.
  • AI-first environment where you’ll collaborate with a dedicated AI Philosophy and cross-functional expert groups.
  • Premium tech & workspaces, featuring top-tier Apple/Bose hardware in modern, dog-friendly offices.

About this role

Enmacc is looking for a software engineer who can bridge production systems and AI—someone comfortable building robust backend services while leveraging LLMs and agentic workflows to solve real operational problems. Based in Munich, this full-time in-office role sits in the Platform team and focuses on converting manual, fragile workflows (spreadsheets, low-code scripts, Google Forms) into containerized production web services that power both internal teams and customer-facing touchpoints like onboarding and KYC verification. You'll own the full lifecycle of these services, from stakeholder discovery through deployment and monitoring.

The role demands 3–5+ years of professional backend or full-stack experience in languages like Python, Java, TypeScript, or Go, paired with daily hands-on use of AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) and proven integration of major LLM APIs into production systems. You'll need solid fundamentals in REST APIs, SQL databases, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure, plus the judgment to know when an LLM agent is the right tool versus when deterministic code is. While your core strength should be reliable backend systems, you'll be expected to spin up functional web interfaces when needed. This is a role for someone who thrives on talking directly to stakeholders, translating messy real-world bottlenecks into clean solutions, and championing agentic engineering practices across the wider team.

Enmacc offers 28 days leave, €2,000 annual learning budget, five dedicated "Level Up" days, fully covered gym memberships, commute support, and hybrid flexibility including workation options. The environment is intentionally AI-first, with access to top-tier hardware and a collaborative, international team in modern, dog-friendly offices.
