Description

Calling Doer (Independent Contractor)

Remote | Flexible, Task-Based Opportunities | U.S.-Based Contractors

About Duckbill

Modern life is demanding, and balancing work, personal responsibilities, and social commitments can be overwhelming. Duckbill provides consumers with AI-powered assistance that helps ensure important tasks get done.

Our mission is to simplify everyday life by combining advanced technology with human expertise.

About the Opportunity

Duckbill is offering the opportunity to independent contractors interested in providing  calling services to support consumer requests and growing commercial partnerships through the Duckbill platform.

You'll have the opportunity to accept individual calling tasks from consumers, focused on gathering information from businesses, vendors, and service providers.

Each available task outlines a specific objective, the information requested, and the expected deliverable from the requesting consumer. Contractors determine how to approach and conduct accepted tasks using their own judgment and communication skills.

This is a flexible, task-based independent contractor opportunity, not an employment position.

Examples of Calling Tasks

Available tasks may involve:

  • Contacting businesses, vendors, or service providers to obtain requested information
  • Confirming availability, pricing, policies, or service details
  • Asking relevant follow-up questions to clarify or verify information

Contractors use their own professional judgment to navigate conversations and determine an appropriate approach to completing each accepted task.

Tasks are evaluated based on the accuracy, completeness, and quality of the requested deliverables, rather than adherence to a prescribed calling script or method.

Qualifications

Successful independent professionals will have the following skills:

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence conducting cold calls with unfamiliar businesses
  • Excellent listening skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to gather, verify, and accurately document information
  • Resourcefulness when navigating phone menus, representatives, or incomplete information
  • Comfort using web-based tools and technology
  • The ability to independently manage accepted tasks
  • Access to an environment and equipment suitable for clear, professional phone conversations

Prior experience in cold  calling, customer service, sales, appointment setting, or administrative services may be helpful but is not required.

Eligibility & Technical Requirements

In order to access the Duckbill platform, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be legally authorized to provide services in the United States

  • Have access to audio equipment suitable for clear phone conversations
  • Be able to access and use Duckbill's platform to receive task details and submit completed deliverables

Flexibility & Independence

Duckbill's calling opportunities are designed to offer contractors flexibility in selecting tasks that align with their interests and availability.

  • Choose your tasks: Contractors independently decide whether to accept available calling opportunities.
  • No minimum commitment: There are no minimum hours, required shifts, or minimum task acceptance requirements.
  • Set your own availability: Contractors determine when to seek and accept available opportunities.
  • Control your approach: Contractors determine how to conduct calls and gather information.
  • Work with other clients: Contractors are free to provide services to other businesses and clients, including while maintaining an independent business or pursuing other professional opportunities.

Compensation

  • Compensation is provided on a per-task basis through Duckbill's credit-based payment system.
  • Contractors are responsible for their own applicable taxes and business expenses, subject to the terms of their independent contractor agreement.

Specific payment terms are outlined in Duckbill's Independent Contractor Agreement.

Independent Contractor Relationship

Calling Doers use the Duckbill platform as independent service providers rather than employees.

You may be invited to participate in a brief phone-based evaluation designed to assess communication skills and suitability for calling tasks.

Before entering into an independent contractor agreement, selected individuals may be asked to demonstrate their ability to access and navigate Duckbill's platform through a platform readiness assessment.

Participation in the on-boarding process does not guarantee an offer of independent contractor opportunities.

About this role

Duckbill is building a platform that connects consumers with AI-powered task assistance, and they're looking for independent contractors to handle calling work on a flexible, task-based model. As a Calling Doer, you'd accept individual assignments that involve contacting businesses, vendors, or service providers to gather specific information—confirming pricing, availability, policies, or service details. Each task comes with a clear objective and expected deliverable, but how you approach the call is entirely up to you.

This role suits people with strong phone communication skills who are comfortable making cold calls and can listen carefully, ask follow-up questions, and document information accurately. You'll need resourcefulness to navigate phone menus and incomplete information, plus the ability to work independently and use web-based tools. Prior experience in cold calling, customer service, sales, or administrative work is helpful but not required; what matters is your judgment and professionalism on the call.

The opportunity is genuinely flexible—you choose which tasks to accept, when to work, and can maintain other clients or businesses simultaneously. There are no minimum hours or shifts. You're paid per completed task through Duckbill's credit system, and you'll handle your own taxes and expenses as an independent contractor. The role requires a reliable computer, strong internet (20 Mbps down, 10 Mbps up minimum), and suitable audio equipment. If you're interested, you'll submit your resume, complete a skills assessment, and potentially participate in a phone evaluation and platform readiness check.

Pay for this role

The employer didn't post a pay range for this role. That usually means pay is set in negotiation, which favors whoever arrives with numbers. Check ranges on comparable Calling Doer postings in your area, and analyze any offer before you accept it.
