Description

Are you ready to jump straight into exciting projects that keep Australia’s Naval assets at the cutting edge?

We’re looking for passionate Engineers to join us and make a real impact from day one, as a Graduate Combat Systems (C4I) Engineer. There’s never been a better time to kick-start your career in the Defence and Maritime space, working alongside experienced Engineers who are eager to mentor and support your growth. The work you will do is tailored to each project, with a clear focus on developing you into a confident, autonomous Engineer. We’re invested in building your skills and setting you up for long-term success.

The Maritime Design and Engineering team draws on the combined strength of BMT and AMT, bringing together more than 40 years of experience across Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, and Combat Systems/C4I Engineering to meet growing industry demand.

If you are an Engineer graduating at the end of 2026 or mid-2027, or who has already graduated, apply now, you do not want to miss this opportunity!

Key Responsibilities

You will work on a diverse range of exciting projects, in support of a wide range of Australian and regional maritime programs, both for new construction (such as the current Royal Australian Navy surface ship programs) and for sustaining and upgrading current ships of the RAN Fleet and for regional Navies.

More specifically you will:
  • Perform specialist design and engineering in the integration of combat management systems, communications, weapons and sensor systems on naval vessels.
  • Provide Combat Systems/C4I engineering support and guidance within whole of ship teams involving all technical disciplines of Naval Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical and Combat Systems Integration.
  • Undertake Engineering projects from Engineering investigations, through design concepts and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) interaction, all the way through preliminary and detail design to production implementation and customer acceptance; and
  • Represent the company on a professional and technical basis with our Defence/Navy clients, with our customers within the defence Industry and with the broader Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and system supplier community.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

To be successful, you will need to have the following skills and attributes:
  • A relevant Engineering degree (such as Computer Systems, Electronics or Communications).
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Well-developed problem diagnosis and solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail; and
  • The motivation and drive to develop your technical capabilities in a multi-discipline engineering environment within a highly supportive team.
Due to the nature of the work, you must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.  The selection process for this role will include pre-employment screening including a Police Records Check.
