About this role
Dallas ISD is hiring a Commissioned Security Officer to work a 220-day schedule at a school campus, providing visible security presence and incident response. You'll patrol interior and exterior areas, interact regularly with students and staff, detect and prevent criminal activity, and respond to conflicts or safety hazards. The role includes restraining or apprehending disruptive individuals, documenting incidents, and coordinating with supervisors and district police—all while maintaining professional appearance and attending required meetings.
This position requires a Texas Level III Security License, firearm proficiency, and the ability to pass background checks, psychological evaluation, medical screening, and drug tests. You'll need composure under pressure, strong de-escalation skills, and the capacity to work with minimal supervision while adhering to district policies. Computer literacy, cultural competency, and clear communication with diverse groups—students, parents, and staff—are essential. Bilingual capability in English and Spanish is preferred.
The role suits someone with security or law enforcement background who is comfortable in a school environment, values conflict resolution, and can balance enforcement with community engagement. You must be at least 21, hold a high school diploma or GED, and be willing to complete ongoing training.
