About this role

West Virginia University's Health Sciences Center is hiring an Electrician II to support the electrical infrastructure of a major medical and research facility. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of specialized systems—from diagnostic equipment like X-ray machines to HVAC controls, emergency generators, fire alarms, and multimedia classroom technology. You'll work from blueprints and specifications, often collaborating with supervisors, architects, engineers, and equipment representatives to ensure systems meet code and function reliably.

The position demands hands-on expertise across multiple electrical domains: high-voltage distribution, motor controls, lighting systems, conduit and cable installation, and emergency power systems. You'll handle both preventative maintenance and emergency repairs, troubleshoot complex control interfaces, and may occasionally train colleagues or fill in for the Lead Electrician. A West Virginia electrical license is required.

WVU offers a standard 37.5-hour week (7am–3pm), 13 paid holidays, 15 vacation days annually, 18 sick days, health insurance, and a 401(a) retirement plan with 6% employer match. This is a full-time, in-office role suited to a licensed electrician with solid technical skills and the ability to work independently within a healthcare and research environment.
