About this role

Micas Networks is building the next generation of data center networking infrastructure, and this Solutions Engineer role sits at the intersection of customer needs and technical innovation. You'd work directly with enterprise and hyperscaler customers to understand their network challenges, then design and validate open networking solutions using Micas's whitebox switches and operating systems like SONiC. The work spans architectural reviews, hands-on proof-of-concept testing, RFP responses, and translating feedback between customers and the product team—essentially acting as the technical bridge that wins new business and removes barriers to adoption.

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of hands-on experience in data center or enterprise networking design, implementation, or testing, backed by a CS or CE degree and ideally a CCNA or higher certification. You'll need deep expertise in core networking protocols and technologies—BGP, VxLAN, Spanning Tree, QoS, and the like—plus a solid grasp of the open networking ecosystem and competitive landscape. Beyond the technical depth, this role demands strong communication skills, the ability to author white papers and technical content, and the self-motivation to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and you're expected to wear multiple hats.

This is an in-office position in San Jose, California, suited for someone who has worked as a Network Engineer, Presales Engineer, or similar customer-facing technical role and is ready to take on a more strategic problem-solving function. If you've spent years troubleshooting networks and explaining technical concepts to customers, and you're genuinely interested in the open networking space, this could be a natural next step.
