The Forbion Ventures Fund focuses on preclinical to early clinical biotech companies.
The Opportunity
As a Principal in the Forbion Ventures Fund, you will support the investment strategy through driving investment cases with and without Partners as well as to proactively identify, source and build investment opportunities. Further responsibilities include management and guidance of the due diligence team and deal execution. Additional activities include portfolio management, deal flow management and deal flow sourcing.
What You Will Do
- Due Diligence Management: Independently conduct and drive the due diligence analyses required to support an investment recommendation. Lead the due diligence process and team.
- Financial Analysis and Modelling: Construct and analyse financing and techno-economic models relevant for the technical and commercial aspects of investment opportunities. Lead due diligence with target companies to assess fit and attractiveness of a potential investment.
- Deal Flow: Source deal flow and build a network with other investors and entrepreneurs. Guide analysts and associates in the management of deal flow processing and cross-fund activities. Supporting assessment and sourcing of investment opportunities leveraging networks, and market research.
- Portfolio Management and Value Creation: Beyond deal execution, the investment team actively supports portfolio company management teams in developing and executing growth strategies, navigating key challenges, and achieving strategic milestones. The Principal will take increasing accountability through Board seats.
What We’re Looking For
- Educational background as Ph.D. or M.D. in life sciences, medicines, or related fields.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an investment professional
- Board experience is mandatory, with a minimum of 1 Board Director seat held
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Compelling written and oral communication skills and fluency in English as well as the ability to convey ideas to an Investment Committee with confidence and conviction
- Ability to establish a work plan, identify and prioritize areas of due diligence.
- Proven ability to proactively identify, source and/or builds opportunities for value-creation.
- Good transaction and investment judgement.

About this role
Forbion is seeking an experienced life sciences investor to join its Ventures Fund as a Principal, based in Naarden. You would drive investment cases independently and alongside Partners, while taking the lead on sourcing, identifying, and building opportunities in preclinical to early clinical biotech. The role combines hands-on deal work with portfolio stewardship—you'll manage due diligence teams, build financial and techno-economic models, and increasingly take Board seats to guide portfolio companies through growth and key milestones.
This position suits someone with a Ph.D. or M.D. in life sciences or related disciplines and at least five years of investment experience, including mandatory Board-level exposure. You'll need strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to structure complex due diligence workstreams, and a track record of sourcing deals or identifying value-creation opportunities. The role demands judgment about both technical merit and commercial fit, plus the confidence to present investment theses to an Investment Committee.
