About this role
Hearst Health's Noregon division is looking for a Vehicle Electronic Specialist to serve as the technical backbone of their customer support operation. Working from a home office, you'll field calls from diesel technicians and fleet professionals troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical failures. Your role is to diagnose issues remotely using your deep knowledge of engine systems, wiring, and OEM diagnostic tools—then guide customers through solutions with clarity and confidence while documenting everything in the ticketing system.
This position demands at least three years as a diesel technician with hands-on experience in fleet, dealership, or independent repair settings. You'll need solid proficiency with industry diagnostic software (Insite, ServiceMaxx, PTT, DDDL, and ideally additional platforms like Service Ranger or Allison DOC), plus a working understanding of transmissions, brakes, and aftertreatment systems. An ASE certification with strong electronics credentials is preferred, as is an associate's degree in automotive technology. Beyond technical chops, you'll need strong communication skills, the ability to juggle multiple support requests, and the self-direction to work independently with a stable internet connection and dedicated workspace.
The role involves minimal travel (up to 5 percent) and is largely desk-based, though you may occasionally file documents or lift up to 20 pounds. This suits someone who has spent years in the field and is ready to leverage that expertise in a support capacity without supervisory duties.
