About HumanSignal
Real-world data is the competitive edge in AI.
HumanSignal is a human data partner for companies building AI models and products. Our customers ship better AI, faster, because we partner with their researchers from real-world data creation to annotation to delivery.
We design and create datasets from scratch, recruit and manage the domain experts who evaluate model output, and run everything through our own platform, Label Studio, the open-source standard for data labeling and evaluation, used by over 1 million practitioners worldwide.
We specialize in the operationally complex: real-world data collection, multimodal pipelines, and multi-step workflows. Advanced ML and AI teams use our enterprise platform to run their own data factories, and our services team to extend their reach where in-house capacity runs out.
If you want to do work that materially shapes how the next generation of AI products gets built, we'd love to talk.

- Monitor audio and video recordings throughout sessions, identifying potential issues before they affect recording quality.
- Troubleshoot technical problems as they arise, working quickly and persistently through established troubleshooting steps to minimize downtime.
- Follow standardized recording procedures, equipment configurations, and quality checks to maintain consistency across sessions.
- Manage recording files, verify successful transfers and backups, and follow established data offload and equipment reset procedures.
- Keep equipment organized, charged, maintained, and ready for upcoming sessions.
- Work closely with the Director and Scene Assistant to support timely setup, scene transitions, and uninterrupted filming.
- Document recurring technical issues, communicate challenges, and flag opportunities to improve existing playbooks and workflows.
Who you are
- You're tech-savvy, hands-on, and comfortable learning and working with different types of recording equipment.
- You're a quick, persistent problem-solver who enjoys troubleshooting and figuring out why something isn't working.
- You can follow detailed technical instructions and established playbooks accurately and consistently.
- You're detail-oriented and understand the importance of reliable equipment setup and recording quality.
- You can stay calm under pressure, troubleshoot methodically, and know when to escalate issues.
- You're dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Experience with audio/video recording equipment, AV support, studio operations, or technical troubleshooting is a plus.
- Familiarity with Zoom recorders, Insta360 cameras, DJI Mic systems, Sennheiser equipment, or multichannel audio recording is a plus.

About this role
HumanSignal operates a data platform and services for AI teams, and they're building out studio capabilities to support their research recording sessions. This role puts you at the center of that operation—managing the technical side of in-person AI research recordings at their Hoboken studio.
You'll own the full production workflow: setting up and operating cameras, microphones, and recorders (including Zoom F3s, DJI Mics, and Insta360 equipment); running pre-session technical checks; monitoring audio and video quality during sessions; troubleshooting problems as they happen; and managing file transfers and equipment maintenance afterward. The work demands someone who's methodical, detail-oriented, and comfortable following established playbooks while also thinking on their feet when issues arise. You'll collaborate closely with a Director and Scene Assistant to keep sessions moving smoothly.
The role suits AV technicians, recording technicians, or studio assistants with hands-on production experience—but they're equally open to quick learners who are tech-savvy and reliable. You'll need to stand and move for extended periods, carry 20–30 pounds of equipment regularly, and occasionally work evenings or weekends. This is a full-time, in-office position in Hoboken, paying $20–$30 per hour based on experience, with contract duration to be confirmed.
