About this role

WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh's ABC affiliate, is seeking a multimedia technician to support the full range of broadcast operations—from news gathering and production through transmission and on-air delivery. You'll maintain and troubleshoot equipment across multiple domains: ENG cameras and field vehicles, editing systems, robotic cameras and production automation, transmitter sites, microwave systems, and signal distribution infrastructure. The role reports to the Assistant Chief Engineer and requires both independent problem-solving and collaboration with other technical staff.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with television or video systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and working knowledge of operating systems, networking, and video production workflows. You'll need to be comfortable with physical demands—lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, accessing rooftops and confined spaces—and willing to work variable shifts. A valid driver's license is required for travel to remote sites. SBE or SMPTE certification, or equivalent military training through DINFOS, is valued but not mandatory.

Hearst offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, paid parental leave, and emotional wellness support. While listed as remote, the role involves regular on-site work at transmitter sites and the station facility in Pittsburgh.
