You are responsible for ensuring high-quality technical execution, driving professional services business outcomes, and nurturing elite engineering talent while remaining close to the technology and execution.
Scope of Impact & Leveling Criteria
- Oversees successful delivery at the delivery team and account level, driving Professional Services (PS) business outcomes through high-quality execution. Impact is measured by key metrics including Bookings, Revenue, Margin, CSAT, and Direct Consumption / Delta Cloud Consumption (DBUs).

- Hire strong PS talent using structured interviews and practical delivery scenarios. Ensure team takes 2–4 protected hours a week for continuous technical learning and experimentation. Understand your team’s strengths and growth areas to provide regular coaching, and handle underperformance early with clear feedback and accountability.
- Remove delivery blockers quickly, using simple automation or AI assistants to accelerate routine work. Run consistent inspection rhythms (standups, project reviews, retrospectives) and hold teammates strictly accountable to timelines and quality bars.
- Translate Databricks’ Culture Principles (Customer Obsessed, Truth Seeking, First Principles, Raise the Bar, Company-First, Bias for Action) into concrete day-to-day behaviors, ensuring standards are upheld in all customer interactions.
- Apply a builder and AI-first mindset to improve team productivity. Review delivery plans and architectures utilizing practical knowledge of the Databricks platform and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Actively coach ICs on secure, scalable deployment patterns, governance, and production readiness.

About this role
Leading a team of 8+ engineers at Databricks' London office means owning both the technical delivery and business outcomes for professional services engagements. You'll be responsible for building and productionizing data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform for major accounts, with success measured through bookings, revenue, margin, customer satisfaction, and platform consumption. This is a hybrid role that sits at the intersection of hands-on engineering leadership and account-level execution—you'll need to stay close enough to the technology to review architectures and coach your team on distributed computing, cloud infrastructure, and production-ready patterns, while also managing timelines, scoping, and relationships with both technical ICs and executive stakeholders.
The role demands someone with at least eight years of technical experience and two years leading high-performing technical teams, ideally in data engineering, platforms, or AI/ML. You should have a solid grasp of Apache Spark, Python or Scala, AWS/Azure/GCP, and modern deployment practices. Beyond technical chops, you'll need to hire rigorously, remove blockers quickly, hold your team accountable to clear standards, and translate Databricks' culture principles into daily practice. A Databricks certification is required or must be completed early on.
This is fundamentally about driving professional services business outcomes through elite team execution and customer impact. If you thrive managing talented engineers while staying technically engaged, and you're energized by shipping solutions that move the needle for Fortune 500 customers, this role offers the scope and leverage to do both.
