About this role
Gulf Coast News seeks an experienced meteorologist who can blend scientific accuracy with compelling storytelling for a South Florida audience. You'll be the primary voice delivering weather forecasts across television, radio, and digital platforms, with particular responsibility for keeping viewers informed and safe during severe weather events. The role demands both studio presence and field deployment—you'll interpret complex radar data, translate meteorological science into accessible language, and maintain composure while managing urgent breaking news situations.
To succeed here, you need professional on-air experience covering severe weather and breaking news, solid grounding in weather science and forecasting, and the ability to present information conversationally rather than formally. Proficiency with television weather systems and live field reporting are essential. The position values NWA and CBM certifications, Spanish bilingual capability, and relevant military background. You'll report to the News Director and work in-office in Fort Myers.
Hearst offers standard benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, paid parental leave, and emotional wellness support, along with LGBTQ+ health services.
