About this role

Hearst Magazines is seeking a Director to lead its awards licensing sales business, a growing revenue stream within one of media's largest editorial portfolios. You'll own the full P&L for this division, setting strategy, managing revenue forecasting and KPIs, and building partnerships with brands and PR firms that license Hearst's prestigious award programs. The role requires someone who can think strategically about market expansion while staying hands-on with the operational details—including developing Monday.com systems and workflows that keep the team efficient and data-informed.

This is fundamentally a leadership and growth role. You'll build and mentor a sales team, collaborate across editorial, advertising, finance, and legal to execute accolade programs, and identify emerging opportunities in licensing and brand partnerships. Success means balancing long-term vision with quarterly results, maintaining strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external clients, and fostering a high-performance culture. The position demands 10+ years of progressive sales leadership, ideally in media, publishing, or licensing, plus proven ability to exceed revenue targets and scale teams.

Based in New York with a hybrid schedule (four days in office), the role offers a $133,000–$143,000 base salary plus bonus and commission eligibility. You'll have access to professional development, comprehensive benefits from day one, and the chance to work alongside established editorial brands and top-tier professionals across media and publishing.
