About this role

Gradient AI is seeking a Technical Operations Manager to lead infrastructure and IT operations for a rapidly scaling SaaS platform serving the insurance industry. Based in Boston on a hybrid schedule, this role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution—you'll oversee the TechOps team and major IT initiatives while partnering with DevOps and SecOps to maintain high-availability cloud infrastructure, implement monitoring and alerting systems, and evolve incident management processes. The position requires balancing long-term operational vision with near-term goals around team capacity, SLA compliance, and staff coverage.

You'll need seven or more years managing applications and infrastructure, plus at least two years leading teams. The role demands hands-on familiarity with a specific tech stack—MacOS and Windows administration, Jamf and Intune, Okta, Microsoft 365, Atlassian tools, FreshService, and TCP/IP networking—combined with the ability to communicate effectively across Engineering, DevOps, Client Experience, and senior leadership. This is a fit for someone who can think strategically about operational excellence while staying grounded in the day-to-day realities of keeping systems running reliably.

Gradient AI offers competitive compensation ($130–155K base plus performance bonus and equity), unlimited vacation, flexible remote work, and a collaborative startup environment backed by $56M in Series C funding. The company has grown since 2018 and is trusted by major insurance carriers and self-insured employers, so there's real scale and stability behind the role.
