About this role

Burns Engineering is seeking an electrical engineering intern for summer 2027 to join their full-service consulting firm, which handles design and project management across transportation, facilities, and infrastructure. You'd work in-office at one of their locations, learning the firm's technical standards and design processes under supervision while assisting on active client projects. This is a hands-on role where you'll observe and participate in design work, coordinate across engineering disciplines, and gain exposure to how projects move from the drawing board to construction sites.

The internship suits someone early in their engineering education—ideally with some prior internship experience—who is genuinely interested in learning how large-scale infrastructure projects come together. You'll work alongside senior staff on site inspections, learn to communicate technical requirements with contractors, and develop a foundation in electrical design and analysis. Burns values collaborative, driven people who want to grow with the firm, and they actively encourage interns to engage with professional organizations to build their reputation in the field.
