Description

Product Manager - Platform

Bitwarden empowers enterprises, developers, and individuals to securely store and share sensitive data. With a transparent, open-source approach to password management, secrets management, and passwordless and passkey innovations, Bitwarden makes it easy for users to extend robust security practices across all online activities. Founded in 2016 with headquarters in Santa Barbara, California, Bitwarden is supported by a passionate global community of security experts and enthusiasts.

As Product Manager, Platform at Bitwarden, you will own the strategy and execution for deployment optionality: the shared capabilities that let Bitwarden behave consistently and securely whether a customer uses our cloud, a regional or government cloud, or their own servers. You will be meticulous about how each Bitwarden app connects to and is configured for the right place, and about which behaviors are allowed to differ by setup, such as federal security standards (FedRAMP, FIPS), IT-managed device settings, and self-hosting constraints. You will partner with Engineering, Architecture, BRE, SRE, Security, and Design to turn initiatives into clear, shippable outcomes for product teams and customers. You will partner with Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Implementation Engineering on how deployment flexibility wins public sector, regulated, and large enterprise deals, and how it meets their compliance requirements. You will use customer feedback, deployment and upgrade data, and competitive benchmarking to inform roadmap decisions, thinking deeply about both the self-hosted operator and the cloud customer.

This is an all-remote team and we’re looking for someone located in the U.S. with no preference for time zone. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the roadmap for the shared capabilities that let Bitwarden run across cloud, government cloud, and self-hosted setups, including how each app connects to and is configured for the right context
  • Define what stays the same and what is allowed to differ by setup, and document those decisions so product teams build to them
  • Research, design and proposed professional services offerings that support customers with special deployment requirements, across cloud, government cloud, and self-hosted setups
  • Drive cross-team initiatives such as the FedRAMP-compliant cloud and the move to a service oriented architecture, keeping scope, sequencing, and dependencies clear across Engineering, SRE, and product teams
  • Analyze how competitive and adjacent password and identity vendors approach government, regulated, and self-hosted deployments, refine our competitive edge
  • Model the relationship between deployment options and public sector wins, enterprise deal velocity, expansion ARR, and retention
  • Define and monitor adoption metrics, such as customers by deployment type, upgrade success and lag, and feature parity gaps between setups
  • Support Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Implementation Engineering on how deployment options map to customer compliance requirements, including RFP responses and deal-stage conversations
  • Share progress, roadmap updates, and wins with leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Use AI tools to accelerate spec writing, competitive analysis, data modeling, and rapid prototyping

About this role

At Bitwarden, you'd own the product strategy for deployment optionality—the shared infrastructure that keeps the platform secure and consistent whether customers run it on Bitwarden's cloud, a government cloud, or their own servers. This means defining what stays uniform across setups and what's allowed to vary based on compliance needs like FedRAMP or FIPS, then working with Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Design to ship those decisions. You'd also partner with Sales and Solutions Engineering to show how deployment flexibility closes public sector and regulated enterprise deals, and use customer data, upgrade metrics, and competitive research to shape the roadmap.

The role demands someone with at least two years of product management experience, ideally with B2B SaaS platform features and U.S. Federal Government customers. You'll need strong technical grounding in authentication and deployment lifecycles, the ability to translate security concepts for admin users, and comfort discussing architecture tradeoffs with engineers. Organization, prioritization discipline, and clear communication are essential—you're coordinating across multiple teams with competing constraints and dependencies.

This is a fully remote U.S.-based position with a salary of $150,000–$160,000. Bitwarden is looking for someone already in the U.S. and does not sponsor visas.
