  • Excited about growing into a well-rounded consultant — not just a technical specialist — and wants exposure to different project types, clients, and challenges.

About this role

AKS Engineering & Forestry is looking for a Civil Engineer-In-Training with a forestry engineering background to join their Tualatin office as a full-time, in-office contributor. You'll work on a variety of forestry-related civil projects—designing low-volume access roads, sizing stormwater systems, and preparing culvert and utility plans that meet state and local standards. The role centers on technical design work using Civil 3D, hydrology calculations, and plan preparation, with direct exposure to client coordination and agency interactions as you develop consulting skills alongside engineering expertise.

This position suits someone with a degree in Forestry Engineering, active EIT certification, and one to five years of civil design experience who is genuinely interested in becoming a well-rounded consultant, not just a technical specialist. You'll need solid Civil 3D skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while working across internal teams and external subconsultants. Experience with hydro-modeling software like HydroCAD or familiarity with Bluebeam is valued but not required.

AKS emphasizes mentorship, clear professional development paths, and a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. The company offers health coverage, 401(k) matching, generous PTO, paid holidays, and weekly team lunches, with a stated commitment to work-life balance and a track record as a Top Workplace.
