About this role

The Darney/Landy Fellowship is a one-year position designed for family planning-trained obstetrician-gynecologists ready to deepen their influence within ACOG and the broader reproductive health advocacy landscape. Based in ACOG's Reproductive Health Access department in Washington, D.C., the Fellow will serve as a clinical expert across the organization—consulting for practice, federal and state affairs, communications, and legal teams on abortion and contraception policy and guidance. You'll participate in committee work that shapes ACOG's clinical positions, train staff and members on procedures and communication strategies, brief leadership on emerging issues, and represent the organization at professional conferences and coalitions.

This role demands strong communication and judgment, particularly when navigating controversial topics and uncertainty. You'll balance multiple projects simultaneously, from media inquiries and literature reviews to developing educational programs on manual vacuum aspiration, medication abortion, and postpartum contraception. The position offers genuine leadership development—building advocacy skills while helping other physicians become stronger advocates themselves. Prior experience working with ACOG at the national or regional level is preferred but not required.

The fellowship is hybrid, based in D.C., with a flexible start date ideally in August 2027. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in obstetrics and gynecology and must have completed a Complex Family Planning Fellowship. The salary range is $170,000 to $180,000, with benefits including paid parental leave, flexible scheduling, commuting allowance, generous PTO, 401(k) matching, and tuition reimbursement. Note that this position is contingent on 2027-2028 grant funding.
