About this role

This fry cook position at Nevada National Security Sites involves preparing and cooking food for a federal facility workforce using standard kitchen equipment—grills, fryers, ovens, steam kettles, and more. You'll work from standardized cycle menus and recipes, handle both breakfast and lunch service across multiple shifts, maintain food safety standards including temperature checks and HACCP compliance, and keep your station clean throughout the day. The role also includes occasional serving line work and monthly inventory responsibilities.

You'll need at least three years of cooking experience, US citizenship, and a valid driver's license. The job requires physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds, plus the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Because the primary location is the Nevada National Security Site 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, you must be willing to work variable shifts (potentially 4:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) across different days and locations, including possible weekend work. You'll also need to pass a pre-placement physical, drug screening, and random drug tests, and obtain a DOE Personal Identity Verification credential.

The position pays $29.42 per hour plus zone pay for the remote location, and offers the opportunity to join Culinary Local 226.
