About this role
Onsemi's Central Utility Plant Engineering internship offers direct exposure to the industrial systems that keep semiconductor manufacturing running around the clock. You'll work alongside the Facilities Engineering team in Hopewell Junction supporting critical infrastructure—chilled water systems, cooling towers, boilers, compressed air, vacuum systems, and electrical distribution—while gaining hands-on experience in reliability engineering, energy management, and preventive maintenance optimization. The role balances analytical work (data analysis, trend identification, dashboards) with field activities like equipment inspections and troubleshooting.
This is a strong fit if you're pursuing a degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial, or energy engineering and want practical grounding in how large-scale utility systems operate and are managed. You'll contribute to real capital projects, sustainability initiatives, and cost reduction efforts while learning CMMS systems, root cause analysis, and safety compliance in a live manufacturing environment. The internship pays $26–$44 per hour depending on location and background, includes medical benefits, networking opportunities, and scheduling flexibility around your academic calendar.
