About this role
Umoja Biopharma is seeking a Director of Program Management to serve as the strategic orchestrator for its clinical development pipeline, translating the company's immunotherapy platform vision into executable development plans. Based in Seattle with a hybrid arrangement requiring at least three days onsite weekly, this role sits at the intersection of science and operations—partnering across clinical, regulatory, commercial, and alliance functions to shepherd programs from Phase 1 trials through late-stage development and regulatory submission. You would own the program management infrastructure itself, building and refining the tools, timelines, decision-making processes, and documentation practices that keep a growing biotech aligned and accountable.
The position demands someone with 10+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience, including at least 5 years in program management, ideally with an advanced degree in a life sciences field. You'll need to be equally comfortable in the weeds of project logistics—maintaining integrated timelines, risk registers, and meeting records—and in the room where cross-functional leaders make strategic trade-offs. This is a hands-on role that values problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to influence without direct authority across multiple teams and external partners.
The salary range is $207,000–$255,000, with the specific level and compensation determined by whether you meet the Director or Senior Director qualifications (the latter requiring 12+ years total experience, 7+ in program management, and 2+ years managing people). This role reports to the VP of Portfolio & Program Management and offers the chance to directly shape how an early-stage, mission-driven biotech executes on its goal to bring transformative cancer therapies to patients.
