About this role

Rocket EMS is seeking a Quality Control Lead to manage quality operations on the second shift at their PCBA manufacturing facility in Carson City. You'd oversee a team of Quality Technicians and Inspectors, ensuring products meet IPC standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both technical depth in PCB assembly and the ability to coordinate across production, engineering, and quality functions.

Your day-to-day work would span incoming, in-process, and final inspections; leading root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues; and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You'd be responsible for training your team on inspection methods and IPC standards, managing inspection workloads against production schedules, and maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements. The role also involves facilitating Material Review Board meetings, participating in internal and external audits, and supporting Lean and Six Sigma programs.

The position requires a high school diploma and preferably an associate's degree or technical certification in electronics or manufacturing. You'll need at least two years in electronics manufacturing or process support, familiarity with SMT and soldering processes, and ideally IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification. This is a contract role paying $24–$28 per hour, working Monday–Friday with potential overtime and weekend shifts. Benefits include 401(k) matching, medical/dental/vision coverage, and paid time off. Note that the role may require access to export-controlled technical data, so U.S. export-control eligibility is necessary.
