About this role
Standish Management's Fund Accounting Senior Associate role in Cape Town is a structured entry-to-mid-level position designed for someone with accounting or finance training and some prior experience in a similar function. You'll work in-office across the full spectrum of fund administration—from capital calls and distributions through financial reporting, tax documentation, and audit support—primarily serving venture capital and private equity clients. The role emphasizes learning within a mentorship framework; you're expected to develop proficiency in general ledger entries, IRR calculations, investor reporting systems, and Excel-based analysis over your first year, while gradually taking on greater autonomy in managing client deliverables and timelines.
The position suits someone detail-oriented who can juggle multiple clients and deadlines, work both collaboratively and independently, and is comfortable asking questions as they build expertise in fund accounting operations and the specific software platforms Standish uses. You'll need solid Excel skills and a grasp of investment accounting fundamentals to start, but the company provides mentorship and training to close knowledge gaps. Benefits include medical aid, gap cover, and a provident fund with group risk.
