About this role

Rocket EMS is hiring a Conformal Coating Operator for its Carson City facility to work the second shift. You'd operate and monitor coating equipment—both automated and semi-automated systems—that apply protective layers to printed circuit boards. The work involves setting up machines, loading and unloading PCBAs with correct orientation and fixturing, adjusting parameters per work instructions, and monitoring coating quality in real time. You'll inspect boards using UV light and magnification tools to catch defects like skips, bubbles, or overspray, then escalate issues or perform approved touch-ups as needed.

Beyond machine operation, the role includes hands-on prep and finishing work: applying and removing masking materials, verifying board cleanliness, handling post-coating assembly, and managing chemicals and consumables safely. You'll also keep detailed production logs, travelers, and inspection records, and communicate status during shift handoffs. The position requires standing or sitting for extended periods, fine-motor coordination, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Prior experience with manufacturing equipment or conformal coating processes is preferred, as is familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards, though the company values attention to detail, process discipline, and a safety-first mindset above all.

The role is full-time, Monday through Friday on an 8-hour shift with potential overtime and weekend work. Compensation ranges from $20 to $24 per hour, with benefits including 401(k) matching, medical/dental/vision coverage, paid time off, and advancement opportunities. Note that this position may require access to export-controlled technical data, so you must be eligible under U.S. export-control laws or able to obtain necessary government authorization.
