About this role

Rocket EMS is seeking an AOI/AXI Operator to inspect PCB assemblies and ensure they meet strict quality standards in their Carson City facility. You'll operate automated optical and X-ray inspection systems, perform first article verifications against IPC-A-610 standards, and analyze inspection data to identify defects in solder joints, component placement, and hidden connections like BGAs and QFNs. The role demands immediate escalation of major issues, clear documentation of results, and the judgment to stop production when necessary. You'll also review job documentation, raise technical inquiries for discrepancies, and support continuous improvement efforts.

This contract position requires a minimum of two years in electronics inspection or AOI/AXI operations, along with current IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification. You'll need hands-on experience with systems like Koh Young or YXLON, the ability to read blueprints and BOMs, and strong attention to detail—particularly for detecting subtle defects. Solid communication skills and basic computer proficiency round out the core requirements. The role includes standard Monday–Friday hours with potential overtime and weekend work, and offers a 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision coverage, and paid time off. Note that this position may require access to export-controlled technical data, so you must be eligible under U.S. export-control laws.
