About this role
Ascension's Emergency Dispatch Operator role in Austin is a high-stakes position managing critical communications across a 13-hospital network. You'll answer emergency calls immediately, route them with complete accuracy, monitor life-safety alarm systems, and trigger emergency procedures during urgent incidents. Beyond call handling, you'll manage complex on-call schedules for nurses and providers, deliver real-time clinical data to care teams, and maintain the operational documentation that keeps every department connected to the right person at the right time.
This role demands someone with proven experience in emergency dispatch, 911 call handling, or high-volume healthcare communications who can stay composed and decisive under extreme pressure. You'll need advanced technical skills—fluency with CAD dispatch software, multi-line phone systems, paging platforms, and EHR databases all running simultaneously. Clear, rapid communication and meticulous attention to detail are non-negotiable, as is strict adherence to HIPAA and safety protocols.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, or one year of directly applicable dispatch experience. If you've worked in public safety communications or emergency healthcare operations and thrive in environments where accuracy and composure directly impact patient safety, this in-office, full-time role offers the opportunity to be the operational backbone of a major healthcare network.
