About this role

Octus is looking for a reporter to help establish and expand coverage of the CLO and private credit markets—a rapidly growing segment within leveraged finance. You'd be responsible for identifying trends, breaking news, and building relationships with asset managers, arrangers, and investors who drive these markets. The role requires you to synthesize complex market activity into clear, timely reporting while cultivating sources among sophisticated financial professionals.

To succeed here, you need hands-on experience covering debt capital markets and the ability to write clearly under deadline pressure. A background in structured credit, fundraising, or private equity would strengthen your candidacy, though it's not required. What matters most is genuine curiosity about credit markets, strong interpersonal skills, and the self-motivation to develop and maintain a network of sources. You'll work alongside financial analysts, legal experts, and other reporters in a collaborative newsroom environment.

The position is based in New York City and requires in-office work. Compensation ranges from $80,000 to $125,000 annually, with eligibility for a discretionary bonus. Octus offers competitive health benefits, matched 401k and pension plans, PTO, parental leave, gym subsidies, and educational reimbursement.
