Description
What is JetZero?
Today’s aircraft contribute around 4% of global CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 200 million cars. This is only going to increase: Air travel is forecasted to double by 2050, while meaningful efficiency gains using current airplanes have hit a wall.
JetZero is developing a blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft. It uses up to 50% less fuel and will be built to accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. JetZero is the inevitable solution to sustainable air travel.
The JetZero Team
We are experienced aerospace professionals and engineers, excited about the future. That future will only be possible if we share our vision and what it means to people’s lives: carbon-free flight that' is better for both passengers and airlines around the world.

About this role
JetZero is building blended-wing body aircraft designed to cut fuel consumption by half and eventually run on zero-emission hydrogen. This Aircraft Performance Engineer role sits at the center of validating that vision—you'd own the engine performance models that drive design decisions and flight testing, working to prove the aircraft delivers on its efficiency promises.
The work spans the full lifecycle of performance validation: developing and maintaining propulsion and aircraft models, correlating them against real engine data and flight-test results, and analyzing actual performance during testing to extract installed thrust, drag, fuel burn, and other critical metrics. You'd collaborate across Propulsion, Aerodynamics, Flight Test, and Systems teams to establish consistent methodologies and develop the tools and processes needed to reduce and interpret flight-test data. This requires deep expertise in turbofan engine performance, aircraft propulsion integration, and the ability to move fluidly between engine cycle modeling, aerodynamic effects, and flight-test data analysis.
The ideal candidate holds an advanced degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering and brings substantial hands-on experience with engine performance models, in-flight thrust determination, and flight-test programs. You'll need strong proficiency in MATLAB and Python, familiarity with engine modeling tools like NPSS or GasTurb, and the analytical rigor to solve problems that cross traditional discipline boundaries. Experience with unconventional aircraft configurations and Part 25 certification is a plus. The role is full-time and in-office in Long Beach, Nova Scotia, with a salary range of $150,000–$180,000 plus equity, benefits including generous PTO and health coverage.
