Description
Product & Program Management Internship (Summer 2027)
Location: Atlanta, Georgia (Buckhead)
Duration: May 17th–July 30th
Department: Product / Program Management
About Us
Hive Financial Systems is an Atlanta-based fintech that builds and operates the technology behind responsible consumer lending for underserved borrowers. Our platform runs the full loan lifecycle (application, underwriting, servicing, payments, and collections) across multiple lending portfolios, and we are rebuilding it as a modern, cloud-native platform designed to scale.
Role Overview
We’re seeking a Product & Program Management Intern to help turn business needs into products that ship. You’ll work alongside product managers and program leads on our platform rebuild, connecting engineering, QA, compliance, operations, and leadership so the right work gets built, tested, and delivered on time. You’ll own real deliverables, with a mentor guiding you throughout the summer.
Responsibilities
- Help write product requirements and user stories with clear acceptance criteria that engineering and QA can build and test against.
- Support product discovery by gathering input from customer service, operations, underwriting, and compliance teams, and mapping how borrowers and staff actually use our products.
- Track work through our Kanban boards in Jira: keep tickets accurate, flag blocked work, and follow up on dependencies across teams.
- Help coordinate releases and cross-team initiatives, including timelines, status updates, and risk and issue logs.
- Analyze product and operational data to inform priorities and measure whether shipped work is having the intended impact.
- Prepare clear, concise updates and presentations for team leads and leadership.
- Use AI tools responsibly to research, draft, and analyze, and verify what they produce.
- Document processes, decisions, and lessons learned so the team can build on them.
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on product and program management experience on a platform used by real consumers and internal teams.
- An inside look at how fintech works end to end, from loan application to final payment.
- Practical experience with Agile and Kanban delivery, roadmaps, OKRs, and flow metrics.
- An understanding of how compliance and regulation shape product decisions in financial services.
- Regular exposure to engineering and business leaders and how they make decisions.
- A portfolio-ready deliverable, such as a requirements package, process improvement, or launch plan you owned.
Qualifications
- Current student pursuing a degree in Business, Information Systems, Industrial or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field (rising Junior or Senior).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to turn messy conversations into clear, organized documents.
- Highly organized, with strong follow-through and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
- Comfortable working with data in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Genuine interest in technology and how software gets built; no coding experience required.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude, Hex, and ChatGPT in coursework or projects, along with the judgment to review and verify what AI produces.
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and eagerness to learn.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project-tracking tools.
- Basic SQL or data analysis experience.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban from coursework, projects, or prior internships.
- Experience with Claude, Hex, or Cursor, which our team uses day to day, for analysis, drafting requirements, or building quick prototypes.
- Leadership experience coordinating a team in a student organization, project, or job.
- Interest in fintech, lending, or financial services.
Interview Process
Our interview process includes multiple stages, starting with an initial screening. Candidates who advance will complete an assessment (TestGorilla) focused on problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication. This helps ensure fairness and gives us a clear view of your capabilities.
Completing the TestGorilla assessment is required. Candidates who do not complete it will not move forward in the process.
About this role
Hive Financial Systems is looking for a Product & Program Management Intern to spend the summer (May 17–July 30, 2027) in their Atlanta office working on the rebuild of their lending platform. You'd sit between product managers, engineers, QA, compliance, and operations teams—writing requirements and user stories, gathering input from customer service and underwriting staff, tracking work in Jira, coordinating releases, and analyzing data to measure impact. The role is structured around owning real deliverables with a mentor supporting you, and you'd leave with a portfolio piece like a requirements package or launch plan.

You'll need comfort working with data in Excel or Google Sheets, genuine interest in how software gets built, and hands-on experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Hex) with the judgment to verify their output. Prior exposure to Jira, Agile, or basic SQL is a plus, as is any interest in fintech or lending.
