    About this role

You'd be managing the kitchen operations at Hilton York's 131-bedroom hotel in the city centre, overseeing a team of 9 chefs across food preparation, plating, production, and cost control. The role blends hands-on kitchen leadership with administrative responsibility—you'll handle budgeting, forecasting, compliance reporting, and team recruitment and development alongside day-to-day supervision. You'll also shape the dining offer by creating and implementing new dishes and seasonal menus, while maintaining rigorous standards around ingredient quality, health and safety, and sanitation.

This position suits someone with strong operational and people management skills who can balance efficiency with quality. You'll need experience in a kitchen environment, familiarity with food safety and regulatory compliance, and the ability to lead, coach, and recruit a small team. The role demands both strategic thinking (menu development, budgeting) and tactical execution (daily kitchen management), so you should be comfortable moving between planning and doing.

Hilton emphasizes its workplace culture and values—hospitality, integrity, leadership, teamwork, and ownership—so this is a company that invests in its people. The York location offers a stable, full-time position in a historic city with good transport links and established hospitality infrastructure.
